pro-choice ensures more children are brought up in better financial and emotional conditions! as well as less of a toll on women phayically and emotionally from either keeping the baby or adopting out the baby!

 @9G4PNS5Labour disagreed…3yrs3Y

Women should always have rights to their own bodies regardless of others beliefs. No man, no man should have any say over a women’s uterus or their body. If you force women to grow life then boys should be forced to have a vasectomy at puberty. All women’s contraceptives should be free including consultations & women’s health needs to be taken seriously. it’s bad enough with the price of period products. Women can’t walk away from a pregnancy like men can so men can not have a say. Until there are laws in place that men are held accountable for getting a wom…  Read more

Some arnt given a choice when fallen pregnant and so should be given a choice and especially to those who are victims of sexual assault and are very young such as age 12/13 does not have the will and mentality, financial aid or help from family and friends to raise a child
“A child raising a child”
Some are also not able to afford a child at that stage of their life too

 @9FZWFBJdisagreed…3yrs3Y

There are thousands of people trying to have babies who struggle with fertility. Surely adopting is an alternative. Babies have no voice. Abortion is murder.

 @9FZVLJQcommented…3yrs3Y

So it’s okay for a child to have a newborn? Like they barely have lived and yet they gotta suffer mentally and physically for 9 months? That’s no way for a child to live.

and yes there’s thousands of people who cannot have children however there are thousands of kids who are up for adoption and many who don’t get adopted for various reasons.

theres too many kids who are born and unwanted by many and even birth parents

 @BDG7F55Green disagreed…2 days2D

It's no ones business except the woman's. I don't think anyone except her should have a say. Why does anyone who's nothing to do with the embryo give a shi if a clump of cells that can't even feel pain yet gets removed? According to scientific studies, the lowest estimate for when it can feel pain is 12-15 weeks, though it is more likely unable to feel pain before 24-25 weeks.

 @BDH7V2TNew Zealand Firstdisagreed…18hrs18H

It is not only her baby, a baby has a mother and a father. We must protect the sanctity of life. There is already so many ways to prevent pregnancy such as celibacy, condoms, birth control. oral sex, what time of a girls cycle she has sex with you there is already so many things before abortion that can be done

 @9FSBJ7WGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

It isn't just about the life of the baby, it's about the life of the mother (and father). If they can support the child, how much pain and struggle the mother may have to go through to have a child she can't even keep, care for and love. It's about whether she wanted the baby, if it was rape, if she was 14. Having a child is a big step that many need to prepare for.

 @9FSFGPCGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Most women choose abortion despite it being traumatic to them because they cannot provide for a child or feel stuck in a dangerous situation. Birth control is not 100% effective and many sexual situations are not consensual.

It is our basic human right to have autonomy over our body's and be able to make the choice to abort or not.

It is our basic human right to have autonomy over our body's and be able to make the choice to abort or not

 @9FVC7W6Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

My body my choice. If your daughter or sister, mother or aunt was raped and was forced to keep the baby of a traumatic experience can you really say that babies life will be positive. Giving the right to choose means that the person who is directly effected can make the choice for themselves and there body ( which is what is directly impacted) .

 @9FT9CM6Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Abortion is healthcare. Pro life positions are impractical and do not give women the freedom to make choices about their own bodies

 @9FRBVSJGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Every woman should have the right to choose and have her own bodily autonomy rather than having some old man tell her what to do with her body

 @9FTHH6HGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

I don’t believe that a fetus is sentient and therefore is not murder. I also believe that women have the right to choose what to do with their body.

 @9FVQKTLGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

People should have the right to choose what they do with their body, especially if it puts them at harms risk.

 @9FS5KYWGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

You cannot claim to be Pro-life while taking away someone's human rights by being allowed to make their own decision about their body and their LIFE.

 @9FR2FNJGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

This kind of medical procedure is only the business of the person who is actually getting it and as the decision will effect their life it should be their right to choose what they want to do.

 @9FQY4JPGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Pro life is backwards and out of date. Your body your choice, nobody else but yourself should have a say if you have to carry a child or not.

 @9FTMKMGGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

A woman should have the right to choose what happens to her body. It’s 2023 and abortion shouldn’t be something that one should be ashamed of. It’s a very difficult decision and is better than bringing a child into the world who will be in poverty or an unloving home

 @9FTBN5KGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

It's not fair to force a woman to bring a child in the world where she may be poor, have bad mental health, be in a violent relationship, was raped etc.

Pro-lifers love to talk about hypothetical children, yet majority don't adopt or donate to charities that support children etc. It's easy for them to take their stance because it requires no action or hard work. There is no consequence for them, but there are consequences for women who are forced to give birth and their children.

 @9FSFPSLGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

It is a womans right to decide on whether to get one while it is safe or not. there are many reasons why. economical, mental health, physical health, status in life.

 @9FQCQGJGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Medical issues, financial issues, people not being prepared/ just not wanting kids. Pro life movements don’t care about kids because they do not help the child in anyway after it is born (Primarily those raised in poverty), and the movement just takes rights/choices away from women. It’s not “Pro-Life” its Anti-Women.

 @9FN88CNGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Your body, your choice. Nobody should be able to tell you to keep a child. There is not enough support, money or anything available for the parent/s after the child is born. It should be down to the person whether they are ready for a child, financially, mentally and physically.

 @9FTNPTSGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

It has nothing to do with anyone but the individuals involved so only they should have an opinion on it.

 @9FS68BKGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

It is our basic human right to have autonomy over our body's and be able to make the choice to abort or not

 @9FRBWTKGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

All circumstances and life experiences are different and can not be governed by a 1 size fits all rule. No one should be able to tell a female what they can or can't do, her body her choice.

 @9FTJ8S7Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Pro-life is nothing but an outdated religious outlook on a serious matter. There are a lot of unplanned and unwanted pregnancies where the child has to endure trauma and neglect. Not to mention the cases of unplanned pregnancies due to rape etc. Our bodies, our choice. If refused people will refer to their own ways of abortion. Scientifically the baby is terminated before it is formed and sentient. And to be honest, Science has shown us a lot more evidence than religion ever has.

 @9FR3D3RGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

There is already a global population issue, why force giving birth upon someone in this current climate? It is only adding to climate change, poverty, child neglect/abuse, more children in the system, the list goes on. Not only does it cause severe, often irreversible damage upon the mother to be forced into this. It takes two to tango. why only target the women?

 @9FSGY33Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

We should be able to trust people to assess their own circumstances and make the correct decision. If we cannot, then that is a deeper, more fundamental issue in our country that needs to be solved rather than forcing people to have a baby that they have determined they do not have the means to care for.

 @9FTPB5NGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

I understand the argument that a baby should not be aborted if only weeks from being born - that I agree with. However, if a women is only weeks pregnant, and this thing is only a foetus with no emotions or feelings, not much more than a bug you squash under your shoe, why this life would be sided with over a women. A lot of these babies that are born out of no choice of abortion will grow up in unhealthy homes, in the foster care system, or dying young. We can not implement abortion bans without first funding and improving the foster care and adoption process - one that is currently lacking…  Read more

Not all women can afford to have a child in this economy and the child will be worse off. A women should choose what happens to her body

 @9FWNK55Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

My body my choice. No one should have the right to dictate what a woman does with her body. Those same men who are pro life are those that send young people into conflict and wars. It would seem that they are only pro life when it suits their politics and certainly not their morality.

 @9FRYRQYGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Women should be able to choose. Not every birth is planned. We don't need more struggling kids on the streets

 @9FN5KWCGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Someone who is too young to give birth heightens the risk and complications, which could easily lead to death for both the baby and the mother. Someone who can’t afford to have a child may end up on the street and raise her child while homeless. Someone who was raped, having to raise this child knowing that.

There are so many more examples of why pro-life is not the answer.

 @9FPFC4DGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Women get raped and impregnated then can't chose to remove this baby.
Women have the choice of birth, not the child.

 @9FPBP9FGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

It puts a huge mental toll on the person pregnant if they can't abort and it removes their freedom and autonomy in life

 @9FTMGK8Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

A recently deceased or dying person can't be forced to donate organs to save a life; a healthy person can't be forced to donate blood or organs to somebody dying, who may have a full life and a family. A woman shouldn't be forced to carry a fetus she does not want which cannot survive on its own, isn't fully formed, and is essentially a clump of cells.

 @9FR6Y7Ddisagreed…3yrs3Y

1. A fetus is not a living organism
2. Raped women/women who have been impregnated against their will should get full dictation over whether or not to keep the baby

 @9FNFKXVGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Using the term Pro-life insinuates that people who agree with abortions are not pro life, this false and purposely used to cause a bias towards the issue. Pro choice yes, however pro-life is borderline propaganda language.

 @9F6J53PGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Accidents happen, why bring unwanted life that is just gunna possibly put strain on social workers, families, mental health and finances. No one should be forced to have a child if they are not prepared.

 @9F7FLCYNationaldisagreed…3yrs3Y

Adoptions? Couples who cannot have children, or are homosexual should have the ability to adopt if they are willing to create a loving household for the child, instead of killing it.

 @9F8H8KXLabourdisagreed…3yrs3Y

Over 6,000 children are already in the NZ foster system. Taking away a pregnant mothers choice will increase this. If people want to adopt and raise a child so badly, one of these 6,000 children in NZ fostercare would surely be greatful.

 @9FR7BCLGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

The prolife mindset is that you want to protect the baby from coming into harm because “it’s murder” however, these fetuses have no nerves, and no emotions. Plus, the mother could be harmed giving birth or may not be able to support a child financially, so this child may well be suffering anyway.

 @9G5F4LMGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Each person should have full rights over their own body, no state or political stand should have any claim over it

 @9FYTR26disagreed…3yrs3Y

Not your body, not your choice.
People who have fallen pregnant due to rape etc should not be forced to give birth.
People who may be facing life threatening issues should not have to continue in the birth.
I would rather people have an abortion than a baby to grow up in a home where they are unloved/neglected and abused.

 @9FXQMGCLabourdisagreed…3yrs3Y

It is our basic human right to have autonomy over our body's and be able to make the choice to abort or not.

 @9FWX2FJGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

The world is not some make believe happy place Society where everything conforms to ideals just because a group of people decide that it must, the world is a sandpit of all potentials and a lot of that is suffering. The world is harsh enough without being thrown around as a vulnerable child with no true guardian. If a child is not wanted they should not be made to suffer existence based on some person’s imaginary ideals. There is reality, and then there is how is actually is. People should mind their own life before being high and mighty over someone else’s decision on whether they will able to be a parent that a child deserves, at that point in time, in that particular situation

 @9FXW6RPGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

The argument is made by men and an outdated book. Women should have the choice especially in sexual assault and rape circumstances

 @9FXQZKVGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

There is already too much dictation over womens body. Women deserve their rights to choose and dictate their own reproductive health

 @9G4JKL5disagreed…3yrs3Y

It's your body, your choice. Especially if the woman has been raped, she should not be made to carry the baby.

 @9FXWP3GGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Women should not have to have a baby they did not want to have. If they were sexually assaulted or are not financially stable they should not have to have a child if they do not want one.

 @9FWVXD4Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

It is a women’s right to chose what she does with her body. Banning would increase death from at home abortions, it’s not fair for our young girls and women to take this right away. Our body, our choice

 @9FVRDWTGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

No one should interfer with a woman needing to make a decision about her body, other than the people she chooses. Period. Done. Please spend your time and energy on something that pertains to you and yours. Thanks.

 @9FZTJ5SGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Abortion is a health care service and should be accessible to anyone who needs it - examinations and tests should be done before the decision is made and the decision should be made with no external influence from family members and friends.

 @9FYWP94Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

any female should have the right to decide whether to give birth. forcing people to have a baby isn't right they cannot afford it, and they have mental health issues/ addiction issues. or the pregnancy could have been the result of non-consenting reasons. or it could be an underage/ person still in education therefore limiting there life and the babies

 @9G357RXGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

pro-choice isn't just about abortions it is every pregnancy-related health issue someone may have. That includes miscarriages epitomic pregnancies etc

 @9G6N3PHGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

A mother is the bearer of the child. If they are not ready to love and raise a child they should have the ability to opt out, for the child's sake

 @BD83TMWGreendisagreed…1wk1W

Abortion is never an easy or happy choice for women; it is not happening willy-nilly. Safe, legal abortions are necessary because they continue to occur when it is illegal. No matter what your stance is, the government should not interfere with personal autonomy. Also, a child should not be born into a situation where it will be unwanted or not properly cared for, and the foster system needs a lot of work. Pregnancy and childcare is a huge responsibility and medical risk and should not be forced upon anyone.

 @BCYLSM9Greendisagreed…3wks3W

"Pro-life" is a misnomer. Most people who claim to be pro-life are in fact only pro-birth. Once the child is born, most of these people are completely uncaring for the plights of the families they have forced into existence, and unwilling to support struggling mothers and children. Women do not seek abortions for fun, they seek them because they are not physically, mentally or financially capable of supporting a child, and banning abortions will only drive more women into dangerous illegal procedures, and more children into difficult and traumatic lives that no one should have to be subjected to. The health and wellbeing of existing people, especially young people, should be more important than the imaginary life of a bundle of cells.

A female has a right to make decisions about her life, her body and her future. abortion is health issue. It's not a faith or religious issue. politicians should make decisions around this until there's huge change in the inequity of female representation in parliament. Prolife focuses on an potential chance of a future life and not the actual human beings life which the women has, this is a human's rights breach and the females life whose is paramount. Those who support prolife should be held accountable if they do not provide full time financial, emotional or physical care of their children. Males, especially those who get a female pregnant, should be forced to have vasectomy until they are ready to have children with a female who is also ready to conceive

 @9FHMJJSGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Forcing a woman to have a baby will drastically ruin her life. The women’s life is more important than the clump of cells. Forcing someone who has been raped to have a child is horrible and should never be ok.

 @9FDRP85Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

A baby is a part of a mother's body. A mother should be able to decide what happens to her body, just like how a person can decide what medicine they want to take when being treated in a hospital area. Would you say that all doctors should be automatically able to pump whatever they wanted into a body of a person? What if the things they pump into them would put them in danger? Well, giving birth and taking care of a baby can also put a person in danger in many ways.

 @9FR6B44Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Those who tell you that you must keep the child don’t raise it along side you, why do they get to change the course of your life? What right do they have. They are making it dangerous not unacceptable

 @9FSHG29Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

 @9FND728Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

 @9FZSN4VGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

People need to be in a place in their life where they can afford a baby/have housing to protect the baby. People should be able to choose whether they want to have a child or not due to mental health issues, rape, income and even if they just don't want a kid.

 @9G56ZSKGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Choice is a fundamental human right. Especially when choice has not been experienced such as in rape.

 @9G5H3VCdisagreed…3yrs3Y

Motherhood should not be forced upon anyone. Abortions are a form of healthcare and will always happen regardless of the legality, keeping them legal keeps them safe.

 @9FYH9CYGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

It is up the pregnant mother. Its her body, her decision. It is horrific that others think they have any say in the matter.

 @9FZTRVVdisagreed…3yrs3Y

an embryo is not a fully developed child and as shouldn't be treated as such. No one should have the right to your bodily autonomy and make the decision of keeping the baby or not aside from you.

 @9FYS434disagreed…3yrs3Y

having a child isn’t always suitable for all peoples situations. Some people shouldn’t or financially can’t have a child

 @9FYFDYLGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Bodily autonomy has to come first. I don’t think abortions should be celebrated or used in place of contraception and I don’t have a set opinion on whether I believe the foetus is a living human and should have human rights or not but I do know that a woman should be able to decide whether or not she puts herself through that. I think we need more education in schools about our biologies and sex education.

 @9FZQP4KGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Just as we wouldn't legally compel someone to donate their organs or blood, etc. It shouldn't be right to force a women against their will to carry a child they do not wish to carry.

 @9FYWCQQGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

afab people deserve the right to choose what to do with their own bodies, fetus’ are literally parasites and nobody should have to go through a pregnancy they didnt ask for.

 @9FTJXXXGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

A child deserves to be born into a family who are able and willing to provide a good life for them. Forcing people to give birth when they become pregnant will harm, not save, the child.

 @9G5QMKFdisagreed…3yrs3Y

Nobody asks for 'life' or chooses what circumstances they are born into. The person responsible for bringing a life into the world has all the information needed to make a fair choice.

 @9FXZG76Greendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Her body her choice, the government has no right over women’s bodies, and in some cases an abortion can be totally necessary, for example if someone is raped and they get pregnant? Was that part of ‘gods’ plan, the only reason people want it banned is because they don’t understand what it would be like.

 @9FXQZMHGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Abortion is women’s healthcare, taking that away is taking away our autonomy and stance in a modern society. It is a control move on women, what’s next, we can’t vote?

 @9G6NCRKGreendisagreed…3yrs3Y

Personal experience in order to save my life my baby who had died but was stuck had to be aborted. Anyone of sound mind doesn't intentionally seek out an abortion as it's traumatic- mentally, spiritually and physically.

 @BD6ZR2HGreendisagreed…2wks2W

I consider access to abortion to be compatible with a pro‑life ethic, because protecting life means more than ensuring birth — it means ensuring a realistic opportunity for a child to live a safe, supported, and dignified life.

If the parents are unable to financially support the child, it is one more person preventably stuck in the adoption system.

 @BCWBCS2Greendisagreed…4wks4W

It is never okay to force a child, victim, or even just somebody who does not feel ready to give birth to go through with that experience. If people that do not want to are made to have children, they will not be good parents. The foster and adoption system is not a good life for kids, and if abortion is done early enough, it is not a termination of life. A termination of potential life is worth it to protect a living person's mental and physical health.

 @BCKRFV6Greendisagreed…1mo1MO

Pro life should be more focused on lives already here such as better funding for Oranga Tamariki than worrying about the potential life in the womb. It's the woman's choice to do with her body as she sees fit. Where is that energy after the child is born?

 @BBNVVHQdisagreed…2mos2MO

People have the right to bodily autonomy. Some are not ready to be parents, and in the pro-life stance of respecting life you endanger the life of the parents, and disrespect their desires. It is not our right to control the decisions another person makes about their own body.

 @BBMD8KYGreendisagreed…2mos2MO

Abortion is healthcare, people will seek abortions anyway, women die due to lack of access to these services

 @BB2KCTMGreendisagreed…3mos3MO

Everyone should have the right to bodily autonomy. Science shows that foetuses cannot feel pain. It should be ones choice when making a decision on something that changes their life, body, and wellbeing so drastically. I wouldn't tell a man to get a vasectomy so why should people have the right to tell me whether I can terminate a pregnancy or not (i'm afab by the way). It can also be life or death if someone doesn't have access to this type of healthcare.

 @B9ZNNVGGreendisagreed…3mos3MO

Criminalising abortion takes away the autonomy of individuals. The choice should be available for those who need it, such as (but not limited to): those with health conditions that will be vulnerable during pregnancy and childbirth, SA victims, teen pregnancies, and those who can’t provide the basic needs and care for a child.

 @B9VTN2CGreendisagreed…3mos3MO

My body my choice, being pregnant is already a risk. Complications occur, the decision should always be between the pregnant person and their medical professional (GP, OBGYN, midwife).

 @B9SLKMZGreendisagreed…3mos3MO

Engaged Abortion

Nobody is required to forfeit any part of their body to save the life of any person, even a mother to a child. Therefore, a person should not be required to forfeit their entire body and possibly their life to a being that is not even capable of living independently.

 @B9Q4JM2Greendisagreed…4mos4MO

If you are not a woman, you have no right to control women and their ovaries. If you are a woman, allow the other women to make the choice for themselves.

Saying that you start valuing two cells as soon as they fuse, with no unique dna, nothing special about it, is drawing an arbitrary line in the sand of where we stay valuing human life, and I believe value starts at conciousness.
