I was getting only $170 per week for the living cost allowance because my parents "earned too much". At the time only my Dad was working and they were not in a position to help me financially. This resulted in a mental health breakdown as my degree was full on and I had no time for anything else except uni, study and work. I also lost a lot of weight from not being able to eat much or nutritionally. I noticed those that did best in my class were all financially stable - either receiving the student allowance and/or receiving help from family and living rent free at home. For those that didn't, we worked the hardest but struggled the most. It's time all learners get a fair chance at educational success!
