No, board members should be the most qualified regardless of gender
The suggestion that someone should be promoted to a position based on gender, or other diversity characteristics, inherently assumes they will be biased in favour of the characteristic they have been selected on. To accept and reinforce bias in leadership and decision making is contrary to the fundamental principles of liberal democracies.
