Advocating for the improvement of support systems for pregnant women is certainly important and should be a priority. However, it's essential to recognise that these improvements may not always address the needs/wants of a pregnant individual. Some women simply do not want to have a child and go through birth, meaning the only option is abortion. There are many reasons why someone should choose to have an abortion, and any reason is good enough considering the lifelong commitment a child brings.
You state that science is in favour of the pro-life position as it supports the notion that life beings at conception. Yes, scientifically speaking,
life begins when fertilisation of the egg is successful. You imply that life and personhood begin at conception, but you overlook the significant variability in fetal development. At the moment of conception, the fertilised egg is a single cell with the potential to become a human being, but it lacks many of the characteristics we associate with personhood, such as consciousness, self-awareness, and the ability to function independently outside the womb. To argue that an unborn child with no thoughts, feelings or consciousness has the same value and rights as a grown individual lacks conviction.
The choice on whether or not to have a child should be completely up to the person who is going to have the child. It's all well and good for you to say you don't want people having abortions, but at the end of the day, the life affected most is the pregnant persons. There should always be the option for people to have abortions, and even if there's not, people will have them anyway, meaning it's safer for everyone for there to be the choice of abortion.
