If a farm isn't viable without subsidisation - it isn't viable. The old arguments of "padding the bad years" apply equally to many businesses and would be unfair to only apply to farms. The argument that it's somehow "part of our culture" is just more of the same. In any case, I don't want current farms encouraged in this way - they dirty our waters, and show little willingness to modernise. Why should *I*, a tax payer, fund them?
