Many people on a benefit still complain that they would like to work to improve their quality of life for themselves and their children but they are penalised for working so it is easier to stay on a benefit rather than wrk long hours, pay for travel to work plus childcare , then have their benefit reduced leaving them worse off. It’s easier to just stay on the benefit. Enable people to go to work with the same benefit for a prolonged period of time until which time they can increase their income. Give them incentives to work and become independent.
