Should gay couples have the same adoption rights as straight couples?
Yes, as long as they pass the same background checks as straight couples
The choice to allow a couple to adopt a child should be based on the competency of that couple to provide care for said child. Nothing specifically about the gender of an adopted childs parents can inherently harm them. LGBTQ+ people can provide love, feminine and masculine energy, cooked meals, a clean home and knowledge on how to care for your hygiene and appearance, strong role models, life skills and discipline as needed by any child. Often the chance to prove themselves worthy would lead to them being better parents than hetero couples who grow up knowing they have the right to. I can think of dozens of hetero parent units who should not have been parents based on their competency and treatment of said child, even in cases without violent or sexual abuse. But no one questioned their right too.
