Police in New Zealand would be more effective if the punishments were more harsh and repeat offenders were less prevalent
police need more resources and support. We have the least corrupt police force in the world. They are not supported by the law. Penalties need to be harsher and punishments based on the crime and not the age of the perpetrator. We should not be trying to rehabilitate, that is just PR bull **** . Discourage crime by making the consequences tougher.
The Police can't keep up with the problems that are going on currently, so how would defunding them make it any better.
New Zealanders will feel unsafe on the streets because underfunding the police will cripple their ability to respond to serious situations where people lives are at stake.
