Should immigrants be expected to learn the official language of their new country?

Assimilation should be reviewed after a few years in the county. You cannot expect someone to learn a complex language like English straight away, nor can you expect someone to be able to fully contribute to the county without learning English.

I feel that New Zealand is multinational and to focus on just one culture would be disrespectful of the many other cultures that reside here
