Many immigrants need support and are supported by English speakers who find it difficult to support them due to the language barrier. It is in their best interest to learn English - at least the basics.

 @9FDW2FTNationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

I strongly believe that any immigrants should have a basic knowledge of the english language to at least be able to comminicate basic language with others such as authorities, workers etc.
theres is nothing wrong with diversity

This is a primarily English speaking country, if you can't speak English, you won't bring any diversity.

Nz is its own democratic nation, we accept any and all ethnic groups and religions, however any person residing in the territories of New Zealand must both abide by the laws we have instated and understand and respect the cultural practices we as a nation live with. New Zealand is more than happy to supports and live and learn from all cultures however

 @9F9D78DLabourdisagreed…8mos8MO

NZ, like every country is made from migration, each political party uses this issue without taking into consideration the wider and older picture.

 @9F9BXDHDemocracyNZdisagreed…8mos8MO

Immigrants should adapt to the country they are immigrating to as countries that are more homogeneous in their values and beliefs are happier and more prosperous (eg. Japan and Scandinavian countries before mass immigration)

 @9F94PK6Nationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

We have enough of our own peoples issues to deal with, we don't need other countries issues migrating here

 @9F8HSF5Greendisagreed…8mos8MO

Too many immigrants. I am a teacher and most kids are Chinese with hardly any NZ. I feel like a foreigner in my own country

 @9F8HLSCOpportunitiesdisagreed…8mos8MO

While diversity is great our country is suffering hugely with housing crisis, food prices, gas prices and more and it’s frustrating to see immigrants who haven’t been here their whole lives get a foot up and buy homes or own businesses as well as immigrants only hiring other immigrants. It’s making new zealdera lives more difficult in finding jobs and buying homes.

Immigrants are people who come into a new country and an existing society and accepts to live by it rules. We should focus our energy on dealing with colonisation and unfair division of rights

 @9FFP8S4Labourdisagreed…8mos8MO

Immigrant leaders and advocates claim that America is a racist society that will not allow “people of colour” to become part of the mainstream of American life.

For us to live together as one we must all be able to communicate in one language. English is our most widely spoken language.

We first need to protect and care for the poverty level in our country, but we should embrace it to a degree.

 @9F6B35PNationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

We cannot keep paying for immigrants when we don’t have access to funded cancer drugs ourselves - get our country supporting our people first

 @9F59KG9Aotearoa Legalise Cannabisdisagreed…8mos8MO

Immigrants should learn to speak English before arriving as it's a massive form of communication. I don't know how many foreigners who I've worked with on a farm doesn't speak English only say yes or no. Then when you try communicate with them to close a gate the say yes but they clearly didny understand and thought I told them it was lunch break. Communication is key and most of nz speaks English if they want to live or work here they need a good amount of English.

Immigrants should be allowed for economic purposes - they boost our economy for the better but should be more involved with the culture

 @9FC5FLFdisagreed…8mos8MO

Immigrants should be allowed to be themselves and we should embrace each other.
We should embrace the diversity that immigrants add to our country

 @9FB745SNew Zealand Firstdisagreed…8mos8MO

When immigrants come to NZ they should assimilate to NZ values. There is a reason why people leave their own country. If we accomodate them to what they would like eventually we will end up with the same problems they left behind. If you come to NZ respect NZ values.

 @9F6H2Y8Opportunitiesdisagreed…8mos8MO

Until NZ remedies it's awful housing situation, we should limit immigrants, who typically have more ability to pay the fairly extreme cost of a house in NZ.

 @9FFP8P5disagreed…8mos8MO

While we should most certainly embrace diversity, that diversity often comes with a distinct lack of integration, sometimes causing societal rifts between cultures, and the formation of culture specific areas and groups. Immigrants should be helped to integrate into their host country if they want to be there, or simply not come. This is from an Immigrant, by the way.

 @9FDVQD2ACTdisagreed…8mos8MO

To Keep New Zealand, New Zealand we need more New Zealanders, we built this country our ancestors fought killed, died and sacrificed for this land. You must become a New Zealander if you wish to live here.

 @9F7G4FBNationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

Immigration is needed, especially in the health field. People assume an immigrant goes on welfare, not true!

 @9F6HHKMNationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

Why is diversity our strength? How is having a country of peoples who don't identity with each other and see themselves as one society good for the nation?

 @9F67FVJNationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

I totally get where you're coming from! Diversity is indeed a beautiful thing that immigrants bring to our country. It enriches our culture, broadens our perspectives, and fosters innovation. Embracing and celebrating this diversity can lead to a more inclusive and vibrant society for everyone.
