Abortion becoming illegal doesn’t mean it will stop. Women out there will be so desperate to end their pregnancy that they will resort to illegal homemade and back ally abortions which is deadly and dangerous. An infamous case is Geri Santoro. 25 million unsafe abortions are carried out every year around the world. A majority of those numbers take place in developing countries where abortion is illegal or hard to access.
Abortion carried by medical professionals is even safer than child birth and it’s a human right.
A majority of abortions are due to the pregnancy being unplanned,…  Read more

The current Govt has invited so much death into this Country that our own morals and principals have declined and you can see this by the sharp rise in Crime... Euthanasia, Abortion Same Sex marriage all go against the Creation Of Life. Abortion is MURDER of an Unborn Child. If a child is born at 9months. Then it must be 1-8months while in the womb. With technology now, you can see the Baby attempting to get away from the instruments that are inserted into the womb in order to tear it apart!! Nothing shows a person's conscious than when he/she is in a state of Fear. So how people say tha…  Read more

Yeah, I did an entire Global Studies research and paper about Abortion in the USA and NZ so nice try but I’ve already done my homework. I probably wouldn’t even say anything here if I was clueless on the topic.

If abortion is murder then what is Euthanasia, the death penalty and slaughtering animals for meat? Would you call them murder too? Seriously think of that and hear how hypocritical you could be. And did you seriously included same sex marriage into the discussion? I don’t recall same sex marriage killing people. Come on.

I believe that every life has an inherent value and purpose unmeasured by our mortal standards. When we speak of abortion and compare it to euthanasia, the death penalty, or the slaughter of animals, we're comparing situations that involve fully developed beings capable of conscious thought and survival outside the womb with an unborn child who has yet to experience life.

As for the point about sensory development, while it's true that babies develop sensory capabilities at around 8 weeks, it's important to note that life, in my view, begins at conception. This belief isn'…  Read more

Life begins at conception scientifically at least by my understanding, I agree with providing birth control, sex education and more social services.

 @9G4M437agreed…7mos7MO

Providing birth control, sex education and more social services is not about reducing the number of abortions but reducing the number of unwanted pregnancies. Abortion is not ending a life in any way. Abortion is not murder. There should be no debate over women bodies, and more support for growing young children.

 @9FYPPCGagreed…7mos7MO

By providing sex education, birth control and more social services to the people of New Zealand, we automatically reduce the rate of abortions as more individuals are educated on how to prevent pregnancies as soon as they become sexually active.

 @9G3J554agreed…7mos7MO

Providing education to youth and accessible birth control will help decrease unwanted pregnancies. There is a correlation between education in developing countries and decreased birth rates.
Imagine if every pregnancy was a wanted pregnancy. We can only achieve that by ensuring everyone has access to affordable effective birth control.

Getting pregnant for some people are the easiest thing to do and some people may not have had the choice of getting pregnant and don’t want to be pregnant

 @9FYY5LKLabouragreed…7mos7MO

There is no convincing ingrained, generational idealogies. If a person(after due consideration and adequate education/awareness) feels it is the best option for themselves and other parties affected by the choice - they should be allowed to choose. It's not for any outside party to dictate. I'm pro choice, have suffered grief over miscarriage and the knowledge that I may not be able to share in the joy of children, but would not dream of telling a person to go against their beliefs so long as those beliefs do not cause - or advocate - harm to others, especially others who do not share that belief.

Education is key. It provides understanding of consequences to choices that we have in front of us & what path we might choose to take when faced with this.
It gives us options, control & autonomy of our own bodies.

Certainly, here's additional context, data, and statistics to support the pro-choice position, emphasizing the role of comprehensive sex education, access to birth control, and social services in reducing abortion rates:

1. **Effectiveness of Comprehensive Sex Education**:
- Studies have consistently shown that comprehensive sex education programs, which cover topics such as contraception, sexual health, and responsible decision-making, are more effective in reducing unintended pregnancies and subsequently, abortion rates, compared to abstinence-only programs.

2. **Access to Birth Contr…  Read more

More education and access to birth control is shown to reduce things like teen pregnancy. Less accidental pregnancy would occur. Proven by USA schools teaching abstinence.

Banning abortions is going to lead to people trying to do it with alchole and other substances and lead to baby’s with lots of after birth problems making everything like birth control more available to everyone will help with unwanted pregnancy’s everything needs to be an option nothing can be banned

I believe that children in high school need more sexual education and to be taught about their bodies as kids are naturally curious and nowadays turn to porn or other internet sources to learn things that they should have been taught safely and by trusted adults

More assistance can allow people to practice safe sex and understand their choices more. This can also help with unwanted pregnancies in the first palce.

If we get free education on the consequences of rape and being unsafe in sexual intercourse I think that it is less likely to have young people in need of an abortion after rape. We could also bring in self-defence.

 @9FJLK2KLabourdisagreed…8mos8MO

Pro-Life: Increase education on foetal development, start of life, to reduce unwanted pregnancy. Increase availability of free birth control. However fully support abortion in cases of underage pregnancy, incest, rape, foetal developmental issues.

 @9FB5Y36disagreed…8mos8MO

Pro-life; while I agree with providing more free birth control, optional and age-appropriate sex education and social services to support people around sex and abortion, I believe it is better for abortion to not be so available and easy to access as it currently is. I believe that providing more education around a child's conception and the stages of foetal development in the womb would be beneficial for reducing abortions so that young people and adults can be aware of when life really begins and what the true effects and outcomes of abortions really are. If abortion was viewed as a death of a baby, similar to a miscarriage, rather than just a choice to end a pregnancy I believe many people would reconsider having abortions.

 @9FB4LWXdisagreed…8mos8MO

At the end of the day choosing to get an abortion is ending a life. All those other things absolutely need to be provided and there needs to be support to reduce the number of abortions.

Better education and access to birth control and social services improves lived outcomes for all, unplanned pregnancies have a higher likelihood of mothers and children living in poverty and having worse mental health outcomes

 @9F6C94NDemocracyNZdisagreed…8mos8MO

In this day and age there is no excuse for unwanted pregnancies unless in the event of rape/sexual violence. In the event of a baby being diagnosed with a severe mental or physical disability then the parents should be given a choice as to whether the pregnancy should be terminated, but abortion should be the exception as opposed to the rule.

Baby is innocent and deserves life! Enough people available to adopt for those not wanted. Also effective counselling to be available

 @9F4QWMGNew Conservativedisagreed…8mos8MO

Birth control treats fertility like a disease and expects woman to not get pregnant from sex. Therefore, promoting birth control would only increase the number of abortions. Sex education could be beneficial if it were proper sex education unlike the rubbish they teach in schools now.

 @9FTML2GLabouragreed…7mos7MO

Each one of these things will lead to more understanding around sex and even learning and making plan b more accessible will all lead to less accidental pregnancies and therefor less abortions!!

1 in 20 women are sexually assaulted. We should invest in birth prevention but if abortion is necessary that it completely up to the women.
