The younger generation don't generally understand politics and will only vote for who their family votes for

I strongly disagree with your belief as I believe that paying taxes ≠ understanding how the MMP system, how the political parties and how ideologies work, people shouldn't intellectually lazy when it comes to politics as it does affect our country

Do they have a full understanding of policy, ideology, how parties work and how our MMP system works? are they studying this? are they reading books, articles etc.? understanding and thinking is important when it comes to politics

I think that people below the age of 18 aren't smart enough and mature enough to make a decision on who runs the country all they care about at that age is drinking and smoking.

Only people who have lived in new zealand for five years should be allowed to vote otherwise we could have foriners controlling the vote

I agree, which is why we shouldn’t tax those under 18 years of age. The voting age should be raised if anything and therefore so should the age of being tax exempt

People around 16-17 years of age are influenced heavily by parents and struggle to form their own opinions
