The taxation system as is is flawed. Taxation devalues the work we do meaning we no longer earn exactly what we have worked for. This is worsened by the fact that people of different incomes aren't taxed unequally (We operate percentage based, this means no one is taxed the same sum nor portion of their income which is in no way equal). Taxation also plays into the concept of government controled wealth distribution which does not reward those who work hard and gives those who don't more than they've worked for. Increasing taxes on all income brackets would only lead to more difficulty dealing with out already high cost of living as well as contributing to inflation, which, for obvious reasons, is detromental to our already suffering economy.

Yes, cost of living is high. People are struggling. Even on household income over 200,000 we are struggling!

The tax and the united States about fraud and use excuse with UK prime Minister and let a convenient worse with UK labour against with labour party NZ with Chris Hopkins and Winston Peters increase

I do not think it is fair to be raising taxes on people who work very hard to be wealthy and do a good job at their occupation, they have worked for that money.

 @9FZ4S65Nationalagreed…7mos7MO

I strongly agree!!
I work 50 hours a week, why should I be taxed more when I’m trying to make a living

 @9FXVT4TNationaldisagreed…7mos7MO

No because if you make a lot of money you shouldn’t be punished because you have a better occupation

 @9FYJMSSdisagreed…7mos7MO

Inflation is already eating away at people’s purchasing power, this would contribute to an even greater negative effect on real income.

 @9FTLLBCACTdisagreed…7mos7MO

There needs to be less government taxing and more focus on smart spending. The working citizens shouldn’t be paying for those who don’t contribute.

 @9FR7PGQNationaldisagreed…7mos7MO

We are currently dealing with a cost of living crisis with high inflation, where people need as much support as possible.

 @9FXXBGQNationaldisagreed…7mos7MO

We are currently in a state of economic turmoil so raising taxes will increase hardship therefore crime, mental health etc

 @9FSFLMYNewZealdisagreed…7mos7MO

If you tax the wealthy, they'll leave, taking their hard work ethics and businesses away from our already suffering economy.

 @9G58FK3disagreed…7mos7MO

Tax is a percentage, income brackets shouldn’t matter for taxes as people who earn more will pay more

the cost of living crisis will increase way too high, and people won't be able to afford basic necessities even more. People will also be discouraged to work, as they have to pay tax on the additional income they earn, which would decrease productivity in the economy.

All income tax brackets should be moved up that are below $180K to the cost of living. Need to be able to claim interest on rental properties - this is an expense in running a business.

 @9FB3S6BLabourcommented…8mos8MO

are you saying that people who earn below 180k should pay a high tax rate? its not very clear?

 @9FLCG9WNationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

We are all struggling, penalising those that are working hard to increase NZ’s GDP is not the way forward.

economical competitiveness with Australia and other developed nations to attract professional workforce

 @9FHTPF9Nationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

No, having high income earners paying reasonable amounts of tax encourages them to be in NZ and benefits the economy from the tax they do pay rather than seeing them move offshore.

 @9FDQV9KNationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

The more people earn, the more they have to pay as taxes, taxes shouldnt be the main income in New Zealand. Establishing trades with Australia could be another way of income.

 @9FC3Z64Nationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

Too much money gets taken away from hard working individuals in taxes to fund lazy drug addicts sitting at home at state funded housing

 @9FB9FCDNationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

Those who pay the most tax generally create jobs and income for other people, that should be encouraged and not taxe.

 @9F9DB25disagreed…8mos8MO

If it is going to raise everyone should be treated the same.
The higher earner has worked hard to receive their renumeration.

 @9F7FKFWACTdisagreed…8mos8MO

Tax should be more proportional. Lower income earners are a higher drain on society than high income earners

 @9FMJ7G7Nationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

No, The truly rich will just write more off in taxes to claim them back against assets and liabilities. It will only be those working for a salary or wage that will be impacted.

 @9FLY377ACTdisagreed…8mos8MO

It will cripple some families to the point they have to make sacrifices around basic living necessities

 @9FLNKKKNationalfrom Oregon disagreed…8mos8MO

We already have some of the highest taxes in the world. Money from taxes needs to be managed better for long-term sustainable growth.

 @9G5JQLBdisagreed…7mos7MO

Raising taxes will decrease the amount of value businesses can provide to the community through jobs, and other social benefits. Raising taxes will make it harder for smaller businesses to enter an industry or remain competitive - creating an anti-competitive business environment where larger scale enterprises with access to more funding will dominate the market. The viability of small business is important because it is often small businesses that can provide the most value to consumers, and the growth of value driven enterprises is the heart of a positive socio-economic system.

Flat tax for all. No rebates. Only taxable allowance and direct cost of products not plant or vehicles.
20% for every earner.
17% for every company
15% for every manufacturer.

Invest our money into areas that will return a profit to put back into the kitty, they just spend it like it’s disposable, I wish my business could receive a cut of everyone else’s hard work and not need to do anything for it,
If our government was a business, it would have gone *** up long ago

 @9FR7TQZNationaldisagreed…7mos7MO

No, how are we as young adults supposed to have a living and buy a house when so much of our hard earned money is being used to give people who are too lazy to get a job money.

 @9FQK92XNationaldisagreed…7mos7MO

Stop de-incentivising hard working kiwis to keep working hard and encouraging people to be lazy and rely on the government for everything.
The definition of the “rich” that are targeted the most in these tax propositions unfortunately extends to middle New Zealand, not the “wealthy small %” politicians think they are targeting.

 @9F6D8V5Nationaldisagreed…8mos8MO

Raising taxes on the wealthy will decrease the amount of money spent to develop businesses that create jobs for New Zealanders. Losing money long term for our economy too as they may move elsewhere to a country where they aren't taxed for taking on their own risk and succeeding

 @9FTMMRQNew Zealand Loyaldisagreed…7mos7MO

Tax needs to be lowered, putting minimum wage up each year makes no difference when tax and gst increases shortly after. People are left to continue struggling. Solo parents are required to work long hours and have someone else raise their child/children just to earn enough money to pay the essentials and 2 parent families are considered to earn too much that they then don’t qualify for any funding to help with childcare so are just making enough for essentials also.
