They don't produce nearly as much waste as expected, and safety concerns that caused previous disasters have been solved. Nuclear plants provide far more energy than hydro or solar, and are almost as sustainable with the introduction of new fission elements.

1. Nuclear energy protects air quality

Nuclear is a zero-emission clean energy source.

It generates power through fission, which is the process of splitting uranium atoms to produce energy. The heat released by fission is used to create steam that spins a turbine to generate electricity without the harmful byproducts emitted by fossil fuels.

According to the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), the United States avoided more than 471 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions in 2020. That’s the equivalent of removing 100 million cars from the road and more than all other clean energy sour…  Read more

Nuclear energy has a lesser impact on the environment than New Zealand's current means of power generation (besides wind and geothermal). Nuclear reactors have come a long way since there adoption and the technology has become much safer.

"Nuclear energy is the safest energy source when compared to coal, oil, and gas. It results in more than 442 times fewer deaths than the ‘dirtiest’ forms of coal, 330 times fewer than coal, 250 times less than oil, and 38 times fewer than gas"

Clean nuclear energy is a reality now and needs to be further invested in. No other source comes close to be able to provide future needs

This is largely an education issue in that Nuclear power has suffered from poor PR information. Looking further into the issue we find it is in fact much easier to store spent fuel than might be thought. Modern processes render it very safe for humans and the environment. It leads to cheap power which is the fundamental building block for equality of living standard across the board. It produces no carbon. It enables the uptake of E cars without fear of grid collapse. It is much cleaner, safer and cheaper than we all thought it was...only it still suffers from events like chernobyl and Fukushima that marr its record. It must be said that no energy is without its down sides and nuclear has many fewer than most of us were led to believe.

Nuclear energy is far more reliable and productive than other renewable energy alternatives, and is far more cost-effecient and effective

 @9FYH5W5 agreed…7mos7MO

Proponents of nuclear energy argue that it has several key advantages:

1. Low Greenhouse Gas Emissions: Nuclear power plants produce minimal greenhouse gas emissions during electricity generation, making them a valuable tool in mitigating climate change. Unlike fossil fuels, they do not release CO2 into the atmosphere.

2. Reliable and Steady Power Supply: Nuclear reactors provide a consistent and reliable source of electricity, unlike some renewable energy sources that depend on weather conditions or time of day. This stability is crucial for maintaining a stable energy grid.

3. High Energy…  Read more

well it's just the best, I don't have time to explain it but for those who want to be educated then they can look themselves

 @9G73QDJagreed…7mos7MO

Without typing a huge essay for any amounts of energy produced nuclear is the safest, has the least long term environmental impact, has the least amount of casualties and with modern technology it hardly goes wrong

 @9G58D87 agreed…7mos7MO

I don't have the statistics in my head other than that one coal plant in a year causes more sickness and death than all nuclear power in history

 @9FKDC8Xdisagreed…8mos8MO

No, there are too many irreversible and horrific ongoing risks if something goes wrong. Eg Fukushima, Chernobyl, Three Mile Island . Nuclear power plants are prone to earthquake damage and damage from military conflict eg in the Ukraine. There are no safe storage capacities for nuclear waste from power plants. Other safer forms of energy can and should be developed.

Based on deaths per unit of electricity
Nuclear energy, for example, results in 99.9% fewer deaths than brown coal; 99.8% fewer than coal; 99.7% fewer than oil; and 97.6% fewer than gas. Wind and solar are just as safe.

Gen 4 nuclear reactors have the ability to shut off when their is some sort of failure during the production of nuclear energy. This eliminates the chance of a nuclear meltdown

 @9FL9XBNLabouragreed…8mos8MO

For every thousand terawatt hour, 0.33 deaths occur in comparison to the 33 deaths caused by coal power, the most common source of power.

The development of technology, for example the newer thorium reactor, result in a massive reduction in waste material and safety concerns

 @9FVCKDC agreed…7mos7MO

Nuclear fission is 8000 times more efficient than fossil energy. Also, investing in nuclear fusion will remove all barriers such as radioactive waste etc...

Stop thinking so much of a highly unlikely fallout. If we always thought about the plane crash, we'd never go flying.

 @9FQLRYRLabouragreed…7mos7MO

There are major organizations still conducting research and improving this technology. Searching reliable sources will get you more information on the specifics
