İsrail, Güney Gazze sınır şehri Rafah'a yönelik saldırısı için "askerlik çağındaki" erkeklerin kaçmasını engelleyecek karmaşık bir kontrol noktası sistemi kurduğu bildiriliyor, İsrail'in askeri planlarına aşina olan bir Batılı yetkili, Ortadoğu Gözü'ne ismini vermeden söyledi.
Kontrol noktaları, beklenen İsrail saldırısından önce bazı kadınların ve çocukların Rafah'tan ayrılmasına izin vermek amacıyla tasarlanmış olsa da, silahsız, sivil Filistinli erkeklerin muhtemelen ailelerinden ayrılacağı ve saldırı sırasında Rafah'ta sıkışıp kalacağı anlamına geliyor.
Daha önce rapor edilmemiş olan İsrail'in Rafah etrafında bir halka kontrol noktası inşa ettiği bilgisi, İsrail'in, bir milyondan fazla yerinden edilmiş Filistinlinin çadırlarda ve geçici kamplarda barındığı şehre saldırı planlarını nasıl ileriye taşıdığını gösteriyor.
Rafah etrafında cinsiyet temelli kontrol noktalarının oluşturulması, İsrail'in savaştaki davranışları konusunda Batı'da artan eleştirilere karşı erkek Filistinli erkekleri ve çocukları soyup zorla alıkoyma uygulamasını yeniden gündeme getirecektir.
Gazze'deki Filistinli erkeklerin toplanması ve onların iç çamaşırlarıyla fotoğraflanması, Aralık ayında kınandı ve ABD, görüntüleri "derinlemesine rahatsız edici" olarak nitelendirdi.
