It has roots in Judaism, Paganism, and its popularity when first introduced was greatly influenced by all the financial benefits Christians received. That's right, from the very beginning, anyone converting to Christianity in 1st century Greece received various tax cuts and other benefits over the otherwise non-monotheistic society, this was a political move. But guess what? It's 2023. Nobody should be penalized or given special treatment for their religion. Religion, similarly, should not be connected to politics - since many religions (including Christianity) have tenets which directly denounce wealth, power, and the greed to earn it. We live in a modern and technological age where we have outgrown these tired ideals. While it is okay to be Christian, it is not okay to resent other positions, and we should strive to be accepting of others
