Discrimination based on gender, race, religion, ethnicity or in some cases mental illness (gender dysphoria), is never ok. Producing quotas enforces or creates mandatory discrimination.

Women live longer, and statistically spend more on day to day purchases, both through the "pink tax", being responsible for household and family buying, as well as having a disproportionately larger percentage of consumerist marketing targeted at them relating to beauty and personal grooming - resulting in greater spending in these areas, compared to men. Removing the pay gap, and increasing women's salaries, is good for the economy :)

In addition, men are disproportionately disadvantaged by the patriarchal expectations of "being the bread-winner" resulting in mental health challenges, violent behaviours, and poor social outcomes overall. Removing the gender pay gap would level the playing field and allow for a fair and equitable balance of responsibilities and labour, irrelevant of gender.

There isn’t an argument for no. A persons pay should be based on their experience and expertise. Gender should not be a factor it does not determine someone’s worth to a company.

There is no logical reason to allow companies to reduce their own costs simply because someone deviates from the CisHet white dude "norm" that society has decided to set. That "norm" should be entirely disassembled, and any signs of inequality based on that should be punished HEAVILY.
