No, people aren't the same and have different skills, experience, knowledge and capabilities. Pay should be determined by the employees ability to meet the requirements of the role.

If the same job is being done there is no justifiable reason for pay to be any different. Solely basing pay based on sex is sexist.

Once you control for personal choice and the behavioural differences between men and women, the "gender pay gap" reduces to insignificance. There is a gender EARNINGS gap, not a gender PAY gap.

To pay people differently absed on gender, race, reliogious beliefs, sexuality or marrital status is ILLIGAL. If a gender pay gap was so obvious, why aren't more buisnesses facing legislative consequences.

The study in New Zealand that discusses the gender pay gap was commissioned by the Ministry for Women. I'm sorry, but that just screams conflict of interest, so I'm not going to take it seriously.

its scaled on average and not from job to job, woman and men are different and have basic different skills and interest . a woman is more likeley to fill cleaning jobs teaching and nursing which are averagely lower paying jobs, where men will take on trades which are generally higher paying jobs.

saying that a male nurse will be paid the same as a female nurse
a male teacher will get paid the same as a female teacher

No because the gender of an employee does not determine their qualification or ability to perform well in that role. There are too many outside factors contributing to their potential fit in a certain role for gender to be a deciding factor of pay rate.

The gender pay gap is thanks to the fact that different genders have different, experiences, education, and the amount of time they work before they require to do other stuff. These are the main reasons for the gender pay gap.

I disagree. Gender doesn't factor always factor into performance, therefore it shouldn't be a requirement.

Workers in female dominated professions are paid less for work of equal standing historically and work is ongoing through pay equity claims to address this. Everyone deserves to be paid fairly for their role and their mahi.

Basing a persons pay on their gender or where they choose to work is like basing their pay on their nationality, religion or hair colour.

I don’t need data or context for this - why do I need to defend my position that is 200% morally correct?

PUBLIC SERVICE workers in NZ are unfairly paid without allied health hospitals would not run properly

I believe Pākēha women still earn about 80 cents per dollar that men earn, and Māori, Pasifika and other ethnic minority women earn even less
