Increase unless it affects our economy
Decrease except for pacific islands
Increase but send nz made goods and services.
@9F5VHZL1yr1Y
Decrease and use the money for local aid funding
@9F4B9L61yr1Y
Decrease, when I see NZ citizens living in cars and kids struggling with education I feel the charity should 'start at home'.
@9F277HG1yr1Y
To be able to help kiwis to the best of there ability and also to contribute to helping others
again it depends, what are we spending it on now? these questions are too general. it really depends on a case by case basis. if we are spending on "aid'' that is coaxed under the disguise of political manipulation like the USA does then no. but if it is genuine aid that is helping people then yes. If we are giving "Aid'' to another government to use for their own political agenda, then thats bad. but if the aid is given to good organisations or good governments that can show they are using that money to directly help people then of course we should.
Increase, but to Pasifika nations only
@9RWHKMK5mos5MO
Neither increase or decrease, and all aid should be removed for countries found guilty of genocide by the ICJ.
@9KH9MXY10mos10MO
keep it the same until we sought out our country's own financial issues after which we should increase the amount.
@9J78RN2 12mos12MO
Decision by the deceased more terrorism with upper covids of the currents banks ASB and westpacs amount less
NZ will always help anyone in need but then it should be done in ways safe for our kiwi people to do so and in actually helpful ways. creating jobs and adding too kiwi diversity whilst doing so.
@9F7G8NJ1yr1Y
Keep the same, but need to look at the country we are providing aid too. Also when providing aid is it actually going to the people who require it.
Increase for countries that mutually benefit Aotearoa to maintain relationships
@9F6LXJM1yr1Y
Keep it the same, yet give proportional to distance such that the nearest get the most.
Don’t how how much is being spent
Send Aid to those who really need it, deny aid to countries that harbour or promote terrorism. We should also aim to reduce the country's deficit.
Increase with a focus on our Pacific Partners
Increase for pacific. But leave the same elsewhere.
@9F4W7S41yr1Y
Focus support on pacific neighbours
Increase it for more reliable countries and ones we trust more
@9F2ZC821yr1Y
The money needs to be accounted for, not just thrown into a pot with a figure on it. It needs to go to the people not arms.
I am satisfied with current amount but it needs to be spent transparently and accountably
Keep it at the current level and only donate to poorer countries
Assess the level of need based on first meeting our own.
Yes, I believe whatever the democracy picks
@9DXCWXP1yr1Y
To pacific islands increase as able
@9DXBYVK1yr1Y
Only provide forein add for natural disaster relief and emergencies
We should only provide aid if it doesn't reduce important areas in NZ that require funding
@9DWW42R1yr1Y
Decrease, with more targeted spending for countries in high need of climate related support that do not have human rights violations. Spending transparency should also be drastically increased.
@9DW8SM61yr1Y
Increase, but only to regional neighbours
@9DVRDFD1yr1Y
I think we should definitely help others with aid. However the amount will depend on how much we are able to afford to give. Not good to run our own country in more dept otherwise.
@9DVPB551yr1Y
Increase for people to leave a country or make a country safer when their & their families lives are at risk
@9DVKFBY1yr1Y
Decrease, only for countries that are acting unfair.
@9DSH8DX1yr1Y
As long as we can afford it & are helping our own people then in a time of crisis for another country yes we should help but for no political gain or status quo & it should be capped at a certain amount.
@9DSGM281yr1Y
Decrease and spend money on our own people in desperate need.
@9DRXSBQ1yr1Y
Should be focused on spending on our own government aid. Look after our people first.
@9DRR6PC1yr1Y
We need to take care of our people first before helping others - except in a massive natural disaster
@9DQZD5B1yr1Y
Case by case if people need help help to our capabilities
@9DQPBRP1yr1Y
Decrease and the Pacific region should have priority on our foreign aid spending
@9DQN9HT1yr1Y
For countries that need it and if there are.
@9DQN9HT1yr1Y
For countries that need it.
@9DQN2NZ1yr1Y
Yes, but focus on helping New Zealand first before other countries
Depends on current situation and whether New Zealand can afford it.
A significant chunk of our spending should be diverted to the South Pacific, to help contend with climate change
@9DDK5DV1yr1Y
Increase, but only after reducing the rate of poverty for children and young adults by 50%
I feel the government should try to work within a budget and work toward being a bit more self sufficient. Subsidise mire nz made products
@9DD4FMP1yr1Y
Increase, but do more to support our economic and security interests in the Pacific. More quid pro quo.
Depends on the circumstance and relationship with the countries
Only aid United Nations countries
@9DBQWCJ1yr1Y
Increase but only to our pacific neighbors
@9DBQQ7R1yr1Y
Decrease for all others apart from Pacifica alliances
Again it should be a case by case basis, depending on what the situation is that requires.
@9DBKDMD1yr1Y
Should depend on a case-by-case basis.
@9DB427D1yr1Y
We should only give money to foreign countries when our own country is supported enough, for whatever the situation is that is needing money.
@9D9W5HV1yr1Y
Yes if we have the funds and resources too.
We have poor and homeless in our own country. Hiw can we look after other countries when we can't even look after our own citizens.
Increase to out strategic partners in the Pacific to lower China's influence in the region.
Increase but ensure spending is based on effective human development
@9D7C9VL1yr1Y
Increase, only for countries with people in crisis
@9D7C4TB1yr1Y
Leave as is as long as the countries don’t have human rights violations
Maintain current. Remove aid from any countries with human rights violations or terrorist activity
I do not have enough information or expertise to answer this question
@9GDHQDV1yr1Y
Keep the current amount of foreign aid spending but refuse aid to countries that violate human rights and countries that harbour or promote terrorism.
@9G6S4461yr1Y
Should maintain current foreign aid spending, and also remove gst off all foods and drinks for nz to help with the cost of living
@9G3CKWB1yr1Y
i think it depends on what issues other countries and increase it when they need it and decrease it when our country needs it more than others
I think we need to prioritise fixing issues within nz first and whatever budget we may have left over can be given as aid.
@9G2465P1yr1Y
Increase where aid is going to enable the country to be self-sustaining. Decrease aid to countries without intention or ability to become self-sustaining.
It would be good to know how much we are spending. Our vulnerable pacific neighbours should get targeted help and humanitarian aid on a case by case basis so long as our needs are met in NZ first.
@9FQ45X51yr1Y
Only to countries in the pacific
Look after kiwis first . We need more doctors / healthcare etc now not more people who will impact our already stretched resources
Increase, but only focus on South Pacifc Rim Countries.
@9FDXSHP1yr1Y
All money that NZ has should go to boosting the welfare of its own people until such time as we eliminate the very problems here that we supply aid to other countries to eliminate!
We need to spend more time investing in our country - mental health - domestic violence - health care. We should be our priority - we are failing as a country
increase, but only after new zealand has a stabilised economy again
Yes, we should keep our promise, made in 1970 and repeated several times since, to devote at least 0.7% of Gross National Income to foreign aid
Yes for pacific countries we have colonial history in/historically benefitted from
Increase overall percentage of funds to use as a bank when needed for fellow partner countreow
@9FCTL371yr1Y
Maintain, but only ever give foreign aid for humanitarian purposes (food, clothing, etc) - not weapons.
Maybe because some countries really need help and so we can let the other countries help instead
@9FCRBW61yr1Y
Increase, but only for environmental disasters
Definitely in Pacific countries we benefit from the labour of and have jisyorically meddled in
I don't have enough knowledge on this
who determines where funding goes?
@9FCFHRF1yr1Y
While the government of the day has a policy, the person in the street supports as they consider their personal stance to contribute. There needs to be room for both.
Increase but only for countries that are developing or lacking resources
Increase but funding need to be prioritised better
Focus on pacific partnerships
Keep the same, but focus on regional interests. EG. Pacific. Use the UN spend in this region.
Depending on the situation of the spending
@9F963NF1yr1Y
Focus on our country unless a country is in desperate need.
@9F8FW5Z1yr1Y
I think we should focus on helping our own country. Whatever funds left use for foreign aid. Obviously I'm extreme circumstances give foreign aid
@9F86C5D1yr1Y
Decrease, we have our own issue
Until Kiwis can feed their own families well and healthily we should not be helping other. We are almost like a third world country ourselves. It feels like slavery right now
Situational decrease or increase
we should remsain the same if note increase but try to avoid affiliated targets, eg lets help if it doesnt put a cross on our back or remove us from supply chain
