Don't be so naive, LGBTQ+ have been in our societies for centuries and it is pathetic to try and exclude them from something as simple as marriage. Everybody has the right to love and be loved. It does not affect anybody else, and if it does then you need to take a step back and think why?
Marriage is the union of two families becoming one. It should not matter if the parties of those two families are of the same sex or not.
Everyone should have the right to marry who they love that is simply a human right. They don’t get to chose so why should we.
@9FZW56R1yr1Y
We live in a free country where consenting adults have the right to choose their lifestyle free of prosecution, fear or discrimination. The idea that people can dictate or control how people live their lives is abhorrent
Marriage is two people who love eachother wanting to be legally know as them being together and celebrating it. It shouldn't matter who it is.
@9G5KTWJ1yr1Y
Pro gay marriage. Everyone should be able to marry the person they love and not be restricted by gender
@9FZ3ZJH1yr1Y
Marriage is about commitment and love between two individuals - that goes beyond physical body and gender in my mind.
@9FZ45FP1yr1Y
Sounds good to me. I'd use better words to describe the concept though. Individuals, physical body, and mind does level a level of ambiguity in what we are constituting as an "individual" here. Human individuals of appropriate age and independence and what not, just to tighten the stance.
Every human has a right to choose a partner they decide to live with, if they want. it is their choice and none of our business.
@9G6T3VM1yr1Y
Marriage is a construct of our own making, we made it up and we can change it. Any two humans who wish to be married should have the right to.
@9FZV7231yr1Y
marriage is an act of love between two people, what gender they are is no one else's concern or business!! love is love
@9G6PDZ41yr1Y
Marriage is between two people who both love each other and to face the hardships that life can throw at them, it is not defined by gender
@9G5HJFN1yr1Y
Everyone should be able to love who they want as long as they are not causing any harm in doing so. Two people of the same gender getting married isn't going to cause a war.
@9G6JV2C1yr1Y
Gay people deserve to be happy and be committed to someone legally just like a straight person. It’s detrimental to someone’s mental health to think otherwise
Marriage is about celebration it's harms no one to let anyone get married to anyone the gender is irrelevant
People should be allowed to marry who they love without judgement or governments banning it. It further marginalises this group in society, pushing them to become outcasted.
@9FS7ZKDOpportunities2yrs2Y
Love is when two people come together, and marriage signifies their commitment to each other. No government should have the power to deny love, or marriage, regardless of gender.
Marriage is a man made concept to celebrate love and commitment, it should be available to all people, regardless of race, gender, religious beliefs or sexual orientation.
That is a primarily western narrative that was developed through western ideologies. Many other countries saw homosexuality as valid, and if the western world didn't have such a major impact on other countries through colonisation etc there would likely still be the international celebration of gay marriages
Everybody has the right to love and marry whoever their heart chooses. That's not up to the government or any solo person.
Marriage is the union of two consenting people, it shouldn't be gender defined. Being gay isn't a choice and therefore you shouldn't be devoid of civil rights as a consequence.
@9FM5GNVOpportunities2yrs2Y
Why do you care who people want to marry. What is so triggering about people having their preferences?
@9FRBDQCOpportunities2yrs2Y
People are welcome to like whoever they like it does not hurt anyone and everyone’s sexual preference is different.
@9FQRMJG2yrs2Y
People have the right to love who they want, as long as both parties are consenting and of age - if two people of the same gender get married it has no impact on you so why do you care so much?
@9FDS5V72yrs2Y
Marriage is two people who love eachother wanting to be legally know as them being together and celebrating it. It shouldn't matter who it is.
@9FMBPJG2yrs2Y
It is ridiculous that 2 HUMAN BEINGS cannot legally marry because of gender or sexuality. Everyone should have the right to marry who they love as long as it is consenting and of age. Anti-gay marriage is a backwards stance to have.
@9FZPSDY1yr1Y
If gay marriage really bothers you that much, then that says more about you than them. If homosexuality really irritates you to the point where you want to ban gay marriage, then just stay out if it. Stay out of other people's business and love lives. Are you being forced to participate in gay marriage? If not, then other people participating in it shouldn't effect you.
Marriage is about maintaining a healthy committed relationship that promotes mental, social and physical wellbeing. This is achievable in any gender combination where the person's individual personality is accepted and they feel safe.
@9G28YGM1yr1Y
Love holds no boundaries. Let people express themselves and we should not have a say in another person life when it comes to marriage.
@9FYGF6F2yrs2Y
Marriage is a commitment between two people in love. Marriage is about love between two people not gender specific.
We are all humans and can love whoever we want as long as none is getting hurt and the relationship is consented.
Marriage is for a relationship. If 2 people love each other and wanna seal the relationship, they can marry. They have every right to because they are in love just like other couples.
@9FYZSHZ1yr1Y
Marriage is a celebration of the love between two people. Why should it matter what their sexuality is
If people love each other what ever their sexual preferences I see no problem. Everyone has a right to be themselves without judgement.
People love who they love. If they want to make their love official for whatever reason, why should that hurt you?
@9FYC3T32yrs2Y
Everyone should be able to marry who they want. If they are the same gender that is entirely up to them.
@9FYHCRQ2yrs2Y
Love is love, if someone wants to enter a official government sanctioned partnership because they love a fellow human being of age let them. More love less hate I say
@9FYXR9J1yr1Y
A marriage is a piece of paper that legally shows you are committed to someone. It should not matter whether the people who signed the paper are both the same sex. you can love whoever and should be able to legally have the same marital rights as different sex couples.
Marriage is based on faith-from God following creation of man and woman who were brought together in marriage. To provide stability and equal representation of male and female when bringing up a family and procreating humanity.
Marriage is two people who love eachother wanting to be legally know as them being together and celebrating it. It shouldn't matter who it is.
People deserve to marry whoever they want regardless of their gender. Love is love. You don’t chose to be gay so why should anyone be punished for it. Disgusting to even be discussing this in 2023
Marriage is between two consenting adults. It should not be anyone else’s choice to consider if it is right or not. Love is love if you are old enough to consent
Don't be a bigot. It wasn't so long ago that the colour of your skin dictated who you could marry. If you don't believe in same sex marriage don't have one but you sure as **** shouldn't be allowed to stop others.
@9FN3VDFTe Pāti Māori2yrs2Y
On what argument? On the sanctity of marriage? On religious grounds?
Religion is outdated and should have no input in personal matters.
@9FMDKDJ2yrs2Y
Let people do what they want, if it doesn’t affect anyone else let be what will be. The Greeks were gay so why can’t we allow gay people to marry in 2023
Marriage is two people who love eachother wanting to be legally know as them being together and celebrating it. It shouldn't matter who it is.
Marriage is two people who love eachother wanting to be legally know as them being together and celebrating it. It shouldn't matter who it is.
The Church / Religious beliefs should have no impact on another individual's freedom of self-expression and basic human rights. People should have the right to marry anyone they wish so long as it is legal and consensual.
That is the churches stance, however love knows no bounds and does not often happen only between a man and a woman.
@9FPDTMC2yrs2Y
If a women and a man can get married why should a man and man, or women and a women not be allowed to. Marriage is a basic human right and discriminating against someone due to their sexuality is a step back in society. Someone’s sexuality is not your business and it doesn’t impact your own life.
@9FN4BWBOpportunities2yrs2Y
To force a person into not being able to legally prove their love and connection is inappropriate, intrusive, and is plainly and simply ignorant fear manifested in abuse
That New Zealand law isn't based on biblical values, and we should not be forcing our beliefs onto others.
It's odd that you think that you can have an opinion on the love lives of two adults who love each other. Let people love who they love.
Marriage is two people who love eachother wanting to be legally know as them being together and celebrating it. It shouldn't matter who it is.
Separate religion and state. If consenting adults want to get married let them, regardless or gender or how they identify, it’s no one else’s business but theirs.
@9FQST3L2yrs2Y
The government has no place in deciding whether someone should be allowed to be married or not- and neither does anyone except for the person being married.
@9FQPJ2QOpportunities2yrs2Y
It has never been defined as between a man and a woman, just two people who love each other and as the times are changing more new arrangements are coming to be so people shouldn't be discriminated against for being gay.
p1: Theres no justification to deny the will of consenting adults unless they are impeding the will of others
p2: Consenting homosexual adults getting married does not impede the will of others
C: There is no justification to deny homosexual adults getting married
Why? Like it or not, there is no objective definition of what marriage should be, and because we live in a free country, people should have the freedom to marry the person they love. The idea of marriage has changed throughout history and differs from culture to culture. To say that your idea of marriage is the correct one and thiers is wrong is simply an arguement to tradition. Restricting marriage to a man and a woman does nothing except deprive people from expressing their love for each other in a lasting and legal way that is meaningful to them
Marriage should be between two consenting adults who love each other and wish to commit themselves to one another.
All couples of any sexual identification should be able to get married OFFICIALLY and legally if they choose too.
Aotearoa is supposedly a secular country. Stop allowing archaic beliefs rooted in religion to influence the lives of real people today. Love doesn’t hurt the fascists.
Marriage is the unity of two people who love each other and it should not be defined by old school traditions during a time of change.
@9FQTG7G2yrs2Y
Get **** ed it’s 2023. People should be accepted for who they are and be able to do what the want to do as long as it is in no way harmful to anyone else.
Your marriage can be between a man and a woman, I don’t care what you do in your private life and you shouldn’t care about mine
@9FVR2K72yrs2Y
Marriage is a legal document binding two people in love. Love is not something only a man and woman can feel for each other. Love can be felt between all gender identity.
@9FC32WBTe Pāti Māori2yrs2Y
Marriage has nothing to do with sex. I believe marriage is about devoting yourself to the person whom you love and intend to spend the rest of your life with.
All individuals have the right to a marriage in any form they chose, no one but the individual themselves should be making that decision for them
If you don’t like gay marriage - then don’t do gay marriage. It doesn’t have any effect on you so why should you cause harm to others in love?
@9F7LP662yrs2Y
Anyone in love should be able to marry no matter what sexual orientation they are. Only restriction should be age.
i don't judge you for marrying a certain type of woman, why should you judge me for wanted to marry a man.
@9G7436D1yr1Y
Marriage has no gender and is simply an act of love and commitment between two individuals no matter their gender or sexuality. Marriage is a human right and it shouldn’t be illegal to love
@9FX48KQ2yrs2Y
There’s no reason, outside of religious beliefs, for a man and a woman to be the required family structure.
@9FL7HHR2yrs2Y
Everyone should have the right to marry who they love that is simply a human right. They don’t get to chose so why should we.
Why should we have less rights bc our heart does think the same as the majority? We are lucky we have rights in this country don’t take them away from someone else bc you don’t think the same.
Marriage is about a lifetime commitment, you can’t choose who you love and why would you marry someone you don’t love
Marriage is traditionally a union between a man and a woman that love each other. The only difference between a traditional viewpoint and a more current viewpoint lies in the two people getting married. The choice of marriage, based in the love the two people share, is still a choice made from the same love regardless of gender or sexuality.
As a New Zealand citizen, you should be able to marry whoever you love (humans only) no matter what, their sex should not matter in any way. There is nothing wrong with same sex marriage and they pose no threat to your health because they can't injure you in any way.
@9FZ52BH 1yr1Y
Marriage should be about the love between two people. We are no longer getting married for good bloodlines in breeding and money purposes, it’s about love and celebration of that love.
Oh my god, what are we living in the 1500’s when marrying your cousins was a good thing. Let them be it isn’t hurting anyone if you want to marry a man or women who am I to try stop you, I’m not a sour old man.
Marriage is a societal construct coming from many different societies around the world. No religion has sole dominion over what marriage should mean. It is for society to decide.
It’s no one’s business whether 2 people want to marry other than those 2 people. Make, female, non-binary etc, nothing to do with anyone else. Why anyone has such an opinion is beyond me?!
Marriage should be between any two people of age who want to be married no matter there sex as its doesn't affect anyone else
@9G7ST6J1yr1Y
The lives of individuals are not to be dictated by the state so long as they are causing no harm to anyone else. People in gay relationships pose the same amount of threat to society as straight relationships, inherently none. The opposition of gay marriage is rooted in white supremacy, colonialism and the globalisation of abrhamaic religions
We were all born different. Genetics and experiences have made us all different in all aspects of life.
@9G6YL881yr1Y
Marriage is the union of two families becoming one. It should not matter if the parties of those two families are of the same sex or not.
Religious law is what causes war! Someone marrying who they love doesn’t, simple! Religion shouldn’t dictate marriages.
Marriage was a business arrangement based in control and ownership - now it's more of a social dream/expectation to prove the viability of a relationship. It's not for me but it's ridiculous for anyone not involved in the marriage to say no. Ludacris.
