No, we should pursue more sustainable energy resources instead

Because (NZ) needs to become more energy independent and we will need to continue to use oil, gas and coal for fuel if we want to maintain/improve our standard of living. We need to become more wealthy as a nation and improve our balance of payments which means importing less fuel and energy and utilising our own to a much greater degree. A good example we should look at is Norway and the benefit that Fracking has had on the US energy sector and its reduction in dependence on imported energy. Fracking and changing from Coal to Natural Gas has also enabled the US to significantly reduce their CO2 emissions
