Public transportation can affect whether a student shows up to their lecture, whether a working professional decides to go to the office or work from home.

We need better and cheaper/ or free transport so that everyone can learn, go to work and not miss out. Nobody should have to make a choice based on the cost of their transport.

More free public transport will act as an incentive for more people to use it rather than many private individual cars commuting to and from work.

People use public transport because of factors that have begun occurring such as limitations on driving in the city associated with reducing emissions, expensive parking owned by private companies etc. for many public transport is the only option and then it sort of becomes a ‘right’ to use. Private companies will likely increase the high cost that it already is to use, which for students like myself is a big factor, and they will be the only ones benefitting from the money made. It won’t be going back into system in order to continue improving it and making changes in favour of the people who are paying the money

I don't have statistics, however I do know that one of the larger costs of a house hold is transport, and the people most affected by transport costs and the costs of other necessities are the poor. This in turn makes it harder to find and hold work and to balance this with other costs.
