Only if they did not go through puberty as the gender assigned at birth or are competing in something where physical size and strength are less important, e.g. shooting, equestrian which are often mixed sex competitions anyway. Absolutely should not be allowed to compete in a strength related sport such as swimming, running or weight lifting if they have previously competed at a high level (regional or national) as a teenager or older in that same sport under the gender assigned at birth.
