It will encourage people to branch out and try new jobs and careers because there will be less fear of failure. People will be more inclined and able to upskill or to take some time off work to study, retrain or gain further qualifications. If everyone has enough money to provide for the basics of food, shelter and other necessities, then any extra funds they have will be more likely to be spent on 'luxury' or non-essential items, thus putting more money back into the economy.

Giving people more options to live healthier lives will improve community and therefore help the economy. People who are healthier and not desperate are less likely to commit crimes due to their need for community (gangs) or need to fund their lives

UBI will only cover basics, working for extra money will give people the opportunity to introduce hobbies, travel and other Quality of life improvements to improve their mental health.

UBI doesn't necessarily mean you never have to work to live a complete and content life. It means everyone is supported in their life to a level that basic needs are met. Economic growth would be great as more people would have the means to spend their money without worrying about the next meal or keeping electricity on. It has been shown that lower socioeconomic individuals will spend money, not squirrel it away. Plus it provides those who are working additional spending beyond their usual income allowing for more luxury spending (wants) as needs would already be met. People also need purpose, a lot of people do want to work for the social, development, challenge or interest. Also allows cultural / artistic / hobby interests to be pursed which would benefit society economically and culturally.

The point of a universal basic income is that it is only enough for the basics: shelter, food, basic clothing. The vast majority of people will want more than that: enough money to afford a car, social activities, holidays, fancy technology, a house. For this they will need to work. Of course there will be the few people who take advantage of the system but they will have to live with just the basics and hopefully eventually decide that they want more than that.

The people who dont want to work will just ask for more money instead of just working to get more money. Also money can be spent else where

I disagree as those on the benefit are mostly on job seekers and seeking work but it gives them a boost in income to help them get a job be able to live financially stable.

People will still work, as unlike welfare a UBI allows for you to make income on top of the money received for government. Therefore, the incentives to work and earn more money remain, while maintaining a safety net for those in-between jobs

Having sufficient resources to be able to be fed and sheltered is a human right. Without sufficient resources, people are unlikely to have the capacity to work and contribute to society.

The evidence from overseas shows this is not the case. People work for more than just money, it gives people purpose and community.
